New Caledonia is a small island territory located off the coast of Australia that consists of dozens of islands. The main island, Grand Terre, is almost completely surrounded by a reef, which makes it an ideal spot for water sports and a popular SCUBA destination. It has become a popular tourist destination for Australians due to the proximity (~3 hour flight from Sydney) and for the French, as the primary spoken language of New Caledonia is French. Cape Town After a couple long flights from LA, we finally ended up in Cape Town. The first thing you notice when you get there is Table Mountain, which towers over the city like a doting mother and offers some fantastic views, both of the mountain and from the mountain. We spent 5 days in Cape Town, but there was so much more to experience, especially from a culinary perspective. Many of the places that we tried to get into had been booked for weeks if not months.
